i had two light brahma chicks hatch in an incubator and after 5 month put them in the coop. they were fine for 2-3 weeks. then there was a 10 degree drop(below what it was) in the temperature one night. one chick died. then it was about that temp. for a acouple weeks. about 3 days after the first chickk died the second one died.they didn't freeze because the went frozen like ice cubes even though the air temp was 60'ish. they were slitt flimsey like the rigimortous had not set in. what happened?

where did you have them for the first 5 months? And what were the temps over nite? Did you introduce them to other chickens? Lots of questions... But hard to ascertain what happened... If you had them inside all that time, the cold could have done it since they would not have been feathered for cold weather, but the warm air of indoors. Could have gotten a virus...

they were in a large feed trough for a couple weeks inside then in a fruit bin for 3 months in the garage and then spent a couple nights on the porch in a 4 rabbit travel cage with out the dividers. they were introduced 4-5 times. the over nite temps were in the high 50's to the low 60's
