I have one chick that is hatching really early. (Found out the the egg was pipped whilst putting in sponges for lock down) So the incubator was open quite a bit, as I was doing day 18 candling to make sure all was well when I saw it, so I replaced the incubator lid. It continued to chirp and shake. Now the chirps died down, but it seems to shake more. Is this okay? I added some water through the vent holes to make sure humidity was up. I heard sometimes early chicks "wait" for the others to start. Is that true?

UPDATE: I just checked on it again. I saw that is was moving most of the time, but it's little small shakes. I also heard a little cheep.

Sometime they start too early and dont make it. I have had no luck with helping early ones out of the egg so let it be. It can be up to a day after pip that they actually hatch out. I have 5 eggs that Im waiting on right now. They have all internally pipped on one external. I have such a hard time not rushing them. :) Im putting the bator in the cellar next time. Out of sight out of mind right???

Two did. Wolf and Charlie. I still have one egg that was added later that could make it, but I have my doubts. They are happy and healthy in the brooder. The egg in question for which the thread was made for was Charlie. That's him in my avatar.
