Hi, I'm wondering if I can feed a broiler food made for growing meat birds to my egg layer breed chicks? They are only a few days old. The regular chick starter/grower is 20% protein and the broiler food is 21%, so only a little more. I don't want these chicks to grow too fast though as they will be egg layers. What do you guys think?

Since they're just a few days old, you should be OK.
I would want to finish that feed by 8 weeks though.
Some do feed even higher Protein feed to their egg layer Chicks.
Myself I feed a 18% Protein feed to day old chicks, but I don't give any treats till 10 weeks.
I just started to give Scratch Grains to my 10 weeks old egg layers.
Here's 2 of 5 dust bathing.

I think it would be fine. I feed a 20% flock raiser to my chicks from day 1 until egg laying and they’re all perfectly healthy so I can’t imagine the extra 1% hurting them.
