Does anyone have a female chick that is real alert and active? I have two cochin pullets, and one is bigger, alert, and less feathered. They're a little over a week old now. She's up more than the other who is smaller but more feathered.

Usually the roo's are actually smaller then the hens. (At first, at least.) A week old is still pretty young to tell. I have a young chick that I was sure never slept, she was so active! But it was a she. :)

I hope so. She also doesn't have as much feathers on her wings. The blue/black has more feathers. Is it not uncommon for some females to feather slower than others?

Chickens are just like humans - they mature at their own pace! It isn't uncommon, no.
