Chick has a big hole but not unzipping

How will I know if that has happened? They are all in the same incubator. My old incubator was not keeping a constant temperature.

I mean is there a way to tell without opening the shell more?

If the membrane seems extra sticky you could clear the membrane away from the beak. As long as it can breathe it will be fine in the shell. Then if it doesn't hatch after veins shrink and yolk is absorbed you could assist at that time.

This looks ok to me, no sign of hitting a vein. It is usually clear to see when a chick hits a vein as the blood will be visible around the hole.
They often wait up to 24 hours until zipping and during this time resorb the yolk. You can see the beak doing some kind of chewing motion.
