Chick hatched.. Mom pecking the heck out of it!!

Yeah... now crossing my fingers that they are all hens.

A mom may peck at them to force them back under until she's hatched all of the eggs. They don't want anyone out from under right away.

I went to check my first broody clutch, and one has hatched! Yay! I opened the nesting box and lifted up the mom to one side to see if the eggs had pipped (they are a day late so I thought they may not hatch) and there was a chick under there. I let the mom sit down gain right away when I saw a chick, but the chick had come out from under her, and the mom was kind of pecking it, then pulled it under with her wing. Good to know that this is normal!
