Hello everyone, you won’t believe me when I say this but this little guy here is 5.5 weeks old… He was hatched by a hen, who was a horrible mother who had no idea how to take care of chicks, we lost all the chicks but this guy. I finally managed to catch him and bring him home when he was 3 weeks old. He has a crazy appetite and drinks well. But he has been losing his fluff and not growing any feathers nor growing in size. He is silent unless he is excited or scared. He used to sleep a lot when i first got him but he is super energetic now.
I also keep two Polish chicks around the same age (they are separated from him just incase) and two things i have noticed about them are this tiny baby has a big and soft abdomen(place where I believe most of his intestines are located) compared to older Polish chicks and he poops manures as big as theirs.
I am worried if his body stays small but his organs fail due to his size. I have given him vitamins and electrolytes too, but still no signs of feather or body size growth yet.
Also there’s so much dirt and feed dust building up on his skin, which I believe he is not able to clean up due to lack of feathers and he does smell and feel itchy (no signs of any pests on him). Should I gently wash him with warm water and baby shampoo too?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
