I posted a close up of the shutter detail.
To make the shutters, we started with used shutters which had a square of wood at the top which we popped out. I traced a hen outline on a thin piece of wood the same size as the removed square. My husband cut the hen out with a jig saw. We then glued the new square in place, painted the shutters, and voila...custom shutters!
