Hello everyone.. I've been facing some issues with my chick.. She's 1 week old and she was doing fine until I saw some red-white colored insects on her... So they weren't really bothering her much but I wanted to get rid of them...
So I used tobacco.. I know it might sound a little weird but i heard it is useful for chicken parasites... I put some in bowl with water after one hour put it on the hitter to just get a little warmer.. Then use it for washing.. I used it on the chick (I know it's not good to wash the young chicks but she really didn't like those parasites) so I washed her and I was successful... All of those red thing died or ran away and I dried her too.. No problem... But afterwards that day at night. She started itching herself to much!!.. Her back.. Her wings.. Her stomach.. And the worst part is that she was like not finding it.. She was grabbing her wings... And pulling it so much toward herself that it could have tore... What kind of parasite is this... Why is she itching herself.. How can i get rid of these thing.. (or can it be the tobacco that i used)

Does she still have parasites?
It could be she is having a reaction to the tobacco water. Have you inspected the rest of the chicks?
In the future, use permethrin dust for a young chicken. It is safe and effective and I've never read of it causing such a reaction.
You also need to treat the entire coop and remove and burn the bedding if it is infested. You can use a permethrin spray for the coop.

Hello and thanks for the response I think there isn't more on her i don't see any.... Unfortunately there is only one chick.. And I don't know.. she's hurting herself so badly she grabs her wings and she's trying to cut them off it seems.. I'm trying my best to prevent that.. I don't know why.. Is, she itching herself?.. Because she does itch her legs and stomach too... But mostly her wings... And don't worry she's in good place and I'm going to clean the coop completely... I've bought somthing called propoxur 1%.. It's a powder.. But I'm afraid maybe the she's like.. Wounded by the parasite and this tobacco just makes it hurt more... But I'm just guessing... And I will not use it again anymore

Welcome To BYC

Where are you located in the world?

Did you clean out all bedding/housing and treat that too?
Hello I live in Iran... Yes I'm doing so... After 3 day when she hatched... I took her home.. I think those parasite came while she was hatching

How is she doing?
Fine not bad tanks for your care.. I'm gonna wait 3 or more days if she didn't get better I'll take her to a vet... If she's busy doing something like running playing or eating and etc... She's find but after some times she suddenly starts peeping and itching and grabbing her wings in a dangerous way.... I've never seen somthing like this... I see no bugs too... Isn't better to wash it with normal water?
