Do you like the Cochin Bantams? I have been looking into getting a few. Do they fly a lot? Are they nice, easy to handle chickens? I hear they are not great layers but boy are they pretty chickens.

I love 'em. I think they are beautiful birds. In my opinion, the black cochin is the best looking variety of the cochin breed. In the sunlight, their black feathers have a really nice greenish-blue sheen. Secondly, they are very docile and friendly birds. If handled often when young, they are not skittish at all. And they get along well with one another. They are good egg layers, are eager to go broody, and make very good mothers. They are heavily feathered so they are well suited to our winters in this part of the country. And no, they are not flyers. I think they are a wonderful breed, and have been very pleased with them since starting my flock a couple of years ago.

That was what I was hoping for. Do you know if they get along with other breeds well? We have Silkies, Buff Orpingtons and Barred Rocks.
