This morning I had my first egg pip & start to zip on day 20. It’s early I know & im positive it’s my incubator as the thermometer reads 1 degree higher & my previous hatch was also early.

Anyways the chick started zipping 10 hours ago & has only progressed slightly by making the hole bigger but not exactly zipping around as normal.

Below picture was taken this morning. 246D4FE6-ACEA-4B27-AD14-095883C42B2F.jpeg

Now 10 hours later it’s chirping away & the hole is just rounder.

I’ve had 2 others hatch completely since this one started. I believe 2 other eggs have pipped but not broken through the shell yet.

Do you think this chick is positioned improperly?

Humidity is sitting 64% & I have not opened the incubator at all.

Advice?

It may be stuck, but it may not be ready yet either. It's a hard call. If you decide to help: open the incubator quickly and pull the top off the chicks egg and then shut the incubator. They will usually push the rest of the way out on their own.

It’s still stuck this morning & has not progressed at all. It is alive

Over night I had 7 more hatch. now I’m just kind of waiting for an opportune one to snatch & free him. One egg is zipping at the moment soo waiting for that one to finish.

The saga continues. This one is obviously not meant to thrive.

I finally took it out of the incubator & had to strip the whole shell from it. Membrane was yellow & like elastic. Absolutely no bleeding.

Once I got the shell off I had to use water to unstick it’s wing from its face. Once done I put it back in the incubator. It’s been a couple hours & it’s unable to get off its back. Still lively but cannot correct itself. It’s foot also looks funny & it’s wing that I detached from its face oh so gently seems unable to tuck into proper position.

Besides this chick all others have been able to hatch on their own. Even a very scissor beaked baby that I’m pretty sure is missing an eye. Or just has a deformed head.

So out of 21 eggs in the incubator I have 2 problem chicks.

Congrats on your hatched babies ❤️ I'm sorry two are having problems.

Fingers crossed for your little fighter :fl🙏❤️ How is the other one doing?

The scissor beak? It’s doing great. It came out strong out of the egg, hatched itself. It can walk & seems strong. Not sure if it’s going to be able to eat. Haven’t tried to feed as it’s only 12 hours or so old... can’t get a great look at it yet as I can’t open incubator. Still hatching.

Not sure whether to cull or see if it will live.

Rooting for this little one, too 🤞❤️
I don't know much about scissor beaks but I hope your little one belongs to the group of those that get along well with that condition!
