One of the babies scared me today! I am constantly checking on them since we are able to brood them in the house. I went in a little bit ago to peek and one was nearly on its back, deep in the shavings with just its head sticking up. It kept kinda flopping over to one side so I tapped on the box to startle them a little and it got up but kept flopping over to one side and wobbling. I paniced and called for my husband to come upstairs and by the time he got there, the chick was back to normal, walking normally and eating. WTH? Do chickens legs fall asleep? lol

Ok. So its normal that they cant stand real well afterwards sometimes? Can their feet fall asleep? Thats what it looked like with this one and then it was fine. Bizzarre!

Just so you know, I had one that slept on its back for the first couple of weeks. I would walk into the room and find the thing splatted out on its back, thinking it couldn't get up I'd reach in and flip it. I couldn't figure it out, the peep seemed normal in every other way. Then sitting here at my computer I watched as they bedded down for a nap. The peep laid down like the rest, then stretched one leg out and slowly rolled over. I watched for a bit longer to see what it thought of that position, it closed its eyes and took a nap just like its sibs.

Nah, there are only 3 special birds with names in my coop. Wait, make that 4 but I really shouldn't say what her name is on a family board except that it rhymes with witch.

lol...I'm picturing little chicks getting the hot towel treatment!

As long as I know its normal, I will try to refrain from worrying about every little thing so much. Thanks guys!
