chick w/ crooked beak

I have noticed that a lot of the pics that people put up about their chicks beaks are mostly the buff/orangey color. Is this true for any of you? Also did you get them from mcmurray? I was wondering if a lot of them are from the same parentage since it is genetic in most cases.

I had a mottled houdan (so not buff/orange) that was crooked and it did come from McMurray. She didn't last but 4-5 weeks. She was also very fiesty though and refused to be hand fed...

I hatched a silkie that has a beak like that. It does not appear crooked but the bottom it way smaller than the top. How would I go about trimming it? He/she is 8 weeks old now and the beak looks very clear on the end that curls down? Everything seems fine otherwise, but it does have an extra toe on one foot. Five on one and six on one. Just curious. I assume I should not hatch any eggs from this chick?
