How would you go about helping this little one? The chick was attacked and is thankfully healing but it's bone in the leg right above its foot is sticking out of the skin.there are no open sores. Should the foot be amputated? Can a chick only have one good foot? I am fully prepared to care for a handicap chick and right now it is adapting well.i just need to know what to do next. :)

I have no experience with broken bones, but I would rinse the wound with weak Betadine and try to put the bones back into alignment, apply Neosporin or other plain antibiotic ointment, and wrap with gauze, splint with popsicle sticks or a finger splint, and vet wrap. I would not amputate, but chicks can live with only one leg.

Quality of life would be poor so culling is the first choice.
Barring that, I would find a good avian vet.
Your chicks situation, IMO, is beyond the scope of home care.

Thank you both. I have never had chicks before so I am in over my head. We have always bought laying hens.
