We have a bantam that has a bad smell coming from the rump area. Vent looks fine, no swelling. This chick is 7 weeks old and has had the smell for a while. It is not a poop smell. It is in with 5 other chicks and it is the only one with it. It eats and drinks well. Has feathered in nicely everywhere except back end. They have a sandbox with DE mixed in to roll in. They are currently living on my back porch till they get a little bigger and are on pine shavings. I have tried washing the rump area with anitbacterial soap but didn't do much. No signs of mites, no sneezing or respiratory stuff going on.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?
