I'm actually posting for a friend who got 12 chicks about a month ago. All was going well until she noticed one of the chicks bottom beak was starting to stick out to the side. It seems that the top beak is growing rapidly and is curving under so much that it's forcing the bottom beak to stick out to the side. She first noticed this deformity about 2 weeks ago and we decided to take a wait and watch approach. The chick is still eating ok, but this problem seems to be getting worse. It appears that this problem could be fixed if the top beak could be trimmed somehow. But we are so afraid that we'll do something to make it worse or perhaps kill the chick in the process. Anyone else ever experience anything like this or have any suggestions? We would be so grateful!!

Can you post a picture. It is probably cross beaked and need a liitle extra consideration (deeper dishes). So a search for "cross beaked" on the forum and see what others have done.
