Hi all
I hatched a bunch of mixed breed chickens from an incubator and they are now a week old.
Ive just discovered today one has a fluid filled sack on its thigh. It's pretty big and makes her look very wide. She's behaving completely normally otherwise. Even comes and jumps in my hand when I come to change their bedding. The other leg feels normal. I've attached pictures but it's hard to get a good photo of it. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what I need to do for her?
Thanks

Hi,

Does that feel hot to the touch, like could it be an infection from an injury? If it's not, then it could just be fluid building up there for an unknown reason. It should absorb itself without intervention. I'd watch it close for the next day or two and make sure it's going down rather than getting bigger.

If you think it's an infection, I'd separate it, get a sterile needle and poke it, drain it, and put a triple antibiotic ointment (without painkiller) on it.

Are you certain it's fluid or could it be air?
