Chick with purple marked head???

Hi All

I am new to chickens and am presently brooding my first flock.

I have all BO's one with a marked head, looks like a purple marker
was used to mark its head.

My question is, I did order from a breeder who sexes the chicks. I did order
one rooster, could this mark be the breeder marking the roosters when
sexing the chicks??

Just wondering what other chicken owners thought.

Most hatcheries mark their cockerels like that. Sometimes, if there is one different breed in an order of other lookalike chicks, they'll mark that one for the customer as well, if it's requested.

Thanks, I did not request it or even knew to request that he be marked.

It just seemed kind of funny to me. I ordered 1 rooster and 16
hens and exactly one chick has a purple mark on its head.

Looks like a purple
sharpie was used to mark him.

Nice to know which on the rooster
is from the get go.
