We are new chicken keepers and I need help with one of our 4-week old chicks. It is a speckled Sussex. She/he has always had a bit of a twitching behavior of the head. I don’t have any experience to know if this is typical.
About a week ago a small red bump appeared on the top of the head. The bump appears to be getting worse and so is the twitching/jerky head movement.
I haven’t been able to spot any bugs and none of the other chicks show any signs of irritation.
The chick is healthy in all other ways. I don’t believe it’s getting pecked. It is the most dominant of the bunch.
She/he does some scratching on the neck. Again I don’t know if this is typical for new feathers.

Please help with some ideas of cause/solution.

Is there any way the chick could be burning its head against your heat source?
That red spot does look sore, but not the kind of sore that usually comes from pecking.

I have no idea about the twitching. It could indicate some kind of underlying problem, or it might just be a weird thing chickens do.

Scratching the neck is common for all chickens. If this one scratches a lot more than the othrs, I would take a careful look for anything odd (like parasites or a sore spot), but otherwise not worry.
