chick with swollen crop?

One of our babies has a swollen crop.

It started last night (day 2) and when I rub her throat, it feels like it's full of air. We isolated her and gave her some apple cider vinegar after what I read about sour crop. She is clearly pooping and is very active (jumping so well that she knocked the top off her little box and joined the rest of the chicks) and seems fine except that she has some bubbly spittle and sometimes seems like she's trying to swallow. The swelling went down a bit yesterday but seems larger today.

Are we doing the right things? What else should we do for her?

If it's truly sour crop, a little olive oil and massage will help, but I've noticed that my chicks are just pigs, they eat a lot and always have swollen crops and are just fine.

Just wondering how swollen is a swollen crop? I check my chicks multiple times a day and always feel their crops although I must admit I am not sure what I am feeling for. I usually am just feeling to see if there are any differences and abnormalities. Sometimes I notice the crop seems to be collected on one side or the other i that normal? What exactly should a healthy crop feel like?

And how swollen were your chicks crops?

Have you been feeding them treats? If they're getting anything other then starter they need to have grit too. Miss Dottie--The crop is on the right side of their chest, if it goes down (empties) overnight everything is fine.

I posted about the exact same thing two days ago, then realised that my chicks NEVER stop eating so just always have full or almost full crops. The crop is on the right hand side and when it's actually bulging out it looks really alarming. The advice I got was if in any doubt remove their food overnight and check the crop in the morning. If everything's ok it'll have gone down. Hope your chick's okay!
