Hi All,

I have a double barred Plymouth Rock who is about 6 months old. She has been laying everyday for a while now. She is eating and drinking however when you walk up to her sometimes she puffs up at you the same way our other hen did when she was broody and is making more dinosaur noises than normal too. She is also making those quicker buk buk buk noises that her broody hen friend was doing, but she isn't staying in the coop and is walking around the yard like normal. She is the bully of the group but this behavior is new, any ideas?

She in not broody.. at least not yet.... but is just showing you she is a brave bird.. she is puffing up to try to scare you away.

It might be in the next few days she will go broody.. and now she is just hormonal!!!

How long has she been laying?

Sounds like new layer behavior.
