I've been dealing with this chicken for a couple weeks now and am about to give up. I have 4 Rhode Island Reds (at least that is what I was told). They look pretty light compared to pics on the internet. Their eggs are brown though. ANYWAY, this girl I have I saw her pacing back and forth in the coop one evening. I was getting ready to go out and give some scraps, the other three were cooped up for the night, and she was pacing. After I went out the other 3 came back out and they ate the scraps. All of a sudden one of the girls laid an egg in the run and the crazy chicken pecked it right away. I separated her out from the others for about 2 weeks and she never laid (except some goo that looked weird once). I don't think she's been laying for at least 6-9 months. I also have another chicken that lays soft shells. I'm about to have her destroyed, but feel bad!
I think she may be the chicken my dog attacked last summer, could he have permanently damaged her? She even tries to peck at my feet and legs now and never used to do that.
