Ok, i am new at this. I have a broody hen. I got three chicken eggs from a friend and placed them under then hen. Well, the next day she gave me duck eggs and I also placed those under her. Then found out it takes the ducks longer. Then first chick hatched and I am afraid she won’t hatch the ducks. (They are viable). What in the world do I do? :th:hit

Is she penned in a nesting area? I think making sure both the chicks and mama hen can't go far from the nest might be your best bet. She might still give up on the duck eggs, but I'm not sure how else you would do it.

Someone else might have a better plan, hang tight.

She is in a small nest box with a door and then a small pen attached. I will keep her close. To them.

it is cool for June, so the hen stays in the nest a lot. I make sure she has food water and clean bedding. I am trying to get her and the babies out a couple times a day, just for a bit. She poops scratches and then puts her babies under her . That’s when I put her back on the nest. So hopefully this will work. She seems content, and extremely happy with her 2 little ones.
