Built a big chicken ark (A frame) last year and it worked great. Now this year I want to add a run. Any ideas on what would look good when adding a run... what works good? Send pics

Could you post some pictures of you A Frame. I am currently looking at building on of my own, so I am trying to get as much info about the A-frame style as possbile and the more variations I see the better.

Cheers,

Kris

It depends on how big you're a-frame is. with small to medium sized you could make a kind of tractor. You fix a run to the front of your a-frame, then build a rectangle that's the same width of the coop and as long as the coop with the run fixed on, then lift the a-frame on top of the rectangle. I just made something like this and it looks very nice, I'll take a pic and post tomorrow.

You could also build two runs the same shape as your a-frame and fix them on either side of the coop, I think that would look better than one very long run at the front.

This is what I gotto add a run to

Wow that is a nice ark. I am thinking of making one similar. Did you use the article John Grogan wrote to give you an starting point? I am looking at it as a starting point but notice several short comings of his design. Do you have any skeches of yours? How many chickens does yours house? Sorry about all the questions and any information would be great.

Cheers,

Kris

thanks for the pen pic. I am eithergoing to do that type or get a 10x8' chain link kennel used and modify it to look nice and make a bridge from ark to kennel.

As for design of ark, I looked at every ark pic I could find on the www. Then trial and error. We have 6 birds out there now, but room for many more.

Its 7Lx5Wx5H

this winter I had to cover it with tarp or the run under was snowed in. When eggs stopped being made we added a light at night for help. Water heater under jug on thermostat too as it got stupid cold. This was the instructi9on manual I left for the kid next door when we were on vacation but shows alot
