Chicken ate frog

I caught a small frog( not toad ) in our house. i took the frog far outside to release it. as i was walking, the frog leapt out of the container and landed on the ground where my rooster promptly nailed it on the head, pretty much killing it. Almost instantly after this, one of my hens ate it. Are frogs dangerous? i know toads are but what about frogs?

Frogs are fine. I've seen my birds eat them and newts.

Oh yes, frogs, lizards, newts, worms, baby mice, big mice .... you name it!! True omnivores!

Watching them chase full grown mice is great but the best thing is watching them chase a butterfly.

Which raises a question, has any one witnessed a chicken eating a toad, or any other animal eating a toad, for that matter. I know they must have predators. I've seen a chipmunk eating a frog.

Apologies for the bunny trail. Bunnies do not eat toads, but they do have predators in spite of their "toxin".

Garter snakes (which may have a resistance to the toad toxins), hognose snakes, hawks, herons, and raccoons are predators of adult toads. Eggs and tadpoles are preyed upon by a variety of fish, diving beetles, and predaceous diving bugs.

It is interesting that toads raised in captivity do not, apparently, produce the parotoid and cutaneous toxins. It is suggested that the absence of the diverse array of arthropod-generated poisons in the diet of these captive toads is the explanation for this observation.Oct 8, 2013

Yeah, when i was young, we used to use small toads as fishing bait for bass. They were EXTREMELY effective! I eventually switched to using humane lures instead though
