Help! Dog attacked my hen and bit her. Open wound.

Is the bite on her upper back? Can you post a picture of her showing the location? The lungs on on the back. Do you hear any air escaping? Chlohexidene 2% or Hibiclen is good for disinfection a deep wound. Plain Neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment can be put on after cleaning the wound twice a day. Keep it open, and use a towel for bedding. Look for any other wounds or punctures. Trim feathers from around the wound so you can document healing with pictures, and see the wound better. Keep her separated in a warm and quiet place. If she is in shock, offer electrolytes or a cup of water with a tsp of sugar dissolved. Squeezing by the dog could have caused internal injuries.

yes, the bite is on upper back. We washed both wounds with saline (same stuff you use to blow your nose) and put neosporine on them. the other wound I am talking about was on her tummy. I will try to get pictures soon!
