chicken being shunned

Hello all I am in central Florida and my mom has about 12 chickens, one of which the others have beaten up , we have her in her own pen because they hurt her leg. She is doing much better but they refuse to let her back in the large pen. The other chickens start to pick on her badly can anyone tell me why they are doing this?

Sounds like she's bottom of the pecking order, but they are overdoing it a bit. Can you get her a friend to keep her company and keep them away from the other chickens?
