This morning I woke up to our chickens clucking loudly in the yard. Theyve never been that loud before. I went out to the coop and our smallest was bleeding from the vent area. There's been a history of pecking in our flock, the biggest is an awful bully. We try to give them space and keep up with food and water, but she always picks on them. Our smallest has been bleeding before, and we cleaned the wound and used blue kote to sanitize it and hopefully keep the bully from pecking. It seemed to work for a while, but now she's bleeding again and this time I don't think that just cleaning and blue kote will work. What should we do?

Welcome to BYC!

Is there anyway way you can enlarge there run?Adding Boredum busters may help with the pecking.Hanging a Cabbage,Pecking block,Leaves in there run.Is it just one chicken bulling her?If so you can rehome the bully.

It's just the one bullying the other two, but the little one catches the brunt of it. I'm not sure where we would take her if we re-home her. I still need to figure out what I'm going to do to treat the wound, as from my understanding vent injuries are several degrees worse than other sores and abrasions.
