Chicken Breeds and Pricing…

Hi, I was hoping someone could help me confirm these breeds. Are the grey chickens Plymouth Rock and the red, black tailed red French Marans?
And also, how much should I be paying for them as laying hens?

The black tailed reds are Rhode Island reds. The barred birds could either be cuckoo Marans or barred Plymouth rocks. As for price, check out the Farm & Garden section of your local Craigslist to see do some comparison pricing. It varies area to area.

Lots of people around here are charging up to 70 bucks for a laying hen. It really does vary a lot.

Holy smokes. That's about the price of an entire flock (7-8 birds).

Prices are highly variable by location.

Here in central NC I can sell Point-of-Lay pullets for $12-15 for backyard mix or $15-20 for more or less desirable breeds.

Yeah, it's nuts. But you can find better prices if you look around a bit, thankfully.
