I accidentally got into poultry, cos m wife is studying animal science in the university. I want ease learning for her, so i started with 20 point of lay hens the black star, an i just like them, though i lost 13 of them. That was last year. Now i got 75 chicks just yesterday. They're doing good.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm sorry about the loss of your hens. It's always sad to lose some of our flock. Black Star is one of several labels under which some hatcheries market their Black Sex Links, and they are my favorites as they are friendly and hardy, egg laying machines. I raised them for years and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 large, brown eggs per hen per year. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Thank u guys! i observe something with my hens last year. they discharge somthing from their mouth like they 're vomiting. what kind of sickness is that?
