Chicken Butt

We have had one chicken whose butt has been like this since April. So about 6 months now. It looks like it's starting to get worse. Unfortunately she does get bullied by the other chickens where the top hen pounces on her and starts pecking her comb. Can it be mites? How long can a chicken have mites before it's deadly? Should I treat for mites just in case?

Could be mites. Could also be small quarters, birds picking her or poor diet.

There are broken off feathers at the surface so it is probably feather picking. Does she sleep on the ground or roost at night? Can you look her over for mites or lice moving around on her skin under her vent and elsewhere? You should see lice eggs or mite droppings if she has any.

She sleeps on the ground at night. I didn't see anything moving near her vent. I also used a paper towel and wipe inside the coop to see if I wiped up any mites. I didn't see anything on the paper towel. Could broken feathers be from mites or just from other chickens pecking her?
