I have a small brown silkie who is probably about five months old. We purchased her at about 3 or 4 months from a trusted breeder. Two days ago we noticed one of our roosters breathing heavily and coughing and sneezing, as well as watery, greenish poop. We isolated the rooster and put him in the garage away from the rest. we gave him antibiotic water and he seems to be feeling better, and now just yesterday we noticed the small hen acting strange. She wouldn’t leave the coop and she was just laying there. She was breathing a little heavy but not bad. Just in case we took her and isolated her as well and discovered that she can’t stand or walk. We set up a sling to hold her up but she struggles to keep herself up even with that. She won’t drink on her own so we’re having to give her water through a syringe, she pecks a little at her food but mainly spills it. She can’t get around and when she tries to move she freaks out and flaps her wings. she can move her legs but she won’t walk and she won’t curl her toes to stand on the roost. what’s happening? I worry that it may be Mereks because just in october we had a rooster pass away from the same symptoms that the currently sick rooster have and i believe the symptoms from Mereks that the dead rooster transmitted may have just started showing. i’ve added some pictures of her below

Hopefully, it isn’t Mareks, but it would be hard to know without getting her tested by a lab or having your state poultry lab do a necropsy if she dies. Is she on a balanced chicken feed? I would start some human vitamin B complex for a couple of weeks, 1/4 tablet daily crushed into a little food or a spoonful of water, and given to her. Human vitamin E 400 IU is often used with neurological symptoms as well. Do you think that she could have been injured? Can you feed her several times a day with some wet and dry chicken feed, and a bit of scrambled egg or tuna? Here is a link for your state vet if you should lose her:

Thank you for the reply. I’m really not sure how good of a feed she is on because it’s the same crumble we’ve used since they were all chicks. I don’t think that she has been injured given that she isn’t limping or acting like it hurts she just simply won’t stand. The vitamins and food choices are a great idea i’ll be trying those, thank you

update on the hen
Our precious hen Delilah is on her way to heaven. We woke up this morning to check on her and she was laying on her side and couldn’t even move her wings. I don’t think that she’s going to survive throughout the day.
