chicken co-op?

with many people living in the city wishing they had a place to raise chickens... is anyone in the outskirts of town doing any type of chicken cooperative?

Sounds cool. I would do it if I could. Though keeping them seperate would be a problem. Especially if your doing a breeding program or something.
