My Easter Egger just laid her first egg and she is very weak. Her legs are sliding around when she walks and she collapses on the floor and just sits there after like 5 secs. What's wrong?

I would separate her inside a dog crate with food and water where you can monitor her for awhile. Egg binding sometimes can cause some temporary lameness due to pressure on the sciatic nerves. Can you offer her some water or electrolytes? Had she been in the nest box for long before laying? Has she been eating and drinking?

Yup! I put her in a box. And yes she has food and water. She has been eating and drinking good. She was in the nest box for a long time...

Let’s hope that she will be up and moving soon. She might have another egg coming soon if she was egg bound. Is she getting crushed oyster shell and layer feed? Calcium might be helpful if she is not getting enough. 1/2 a Tums or calcium tablet can be given into her beak to swallow if you have some. Is there any possibility of an injury? Was she vaccinated for Mareks disease? Let us know how she gets along.

I've never fed her oyster shell but I have fed her layer feed before. I will give her calcium. She has not been vaccinated for Mareks disease. I will consider but first I need to know what it is ;) 😉

Had this happen to one of my hens so I took her to the vet. They said that sometimes when they lay eggs it can press on nerves and cause lameness. With my girl it resolved after 2 days.
