Hi guys and girls, apologies if this is in the wrong forum, I have also searched for the answer but cant find anything.

I know nothing about colours and genetics, if I have a black rooster and black hen will the chicks be 100% black? Or will they be varying shades? Just ask as I have had a white rooster and white hen and got a black chick before. Very confusing haha.

Sometimes. It just depends on their genetic history. I am learning too about genetics and coloring. If I find anything I shall pass it on to you. We have had some quail d'anvers with varying shades of quail from dark to lighter. Just depends on what is dominant.

Thanks. So really it's a bit of a pot luck situation? I'm getting a dozen fertile eggs with both parents black, wasn't too of my chances of getting any colours in there like a random birchen or cuckoo. Haha don't like my chances.

Thanks Laineybug

Chances are youll get just black, but yeah it’s basically a draw!
