Chicken coming Tuesday and Coop not complete

Something to consider--if you are going to put them outside in your brooder house, with heat lamp, when they aren't but 3 or so weeks old. Make sure they can't get gotten at by rats, if there is any chance you have some there. My sis-in-law, a few years ago, got 50 baby chicks and put them in a cardboard circle with heat lamp, in their outdoor chicken house. Couple nights later, rats got in there and killed all but one. Good Luck.

Gotcha about the rats. I don't think they can get in unless they eat through 7/16" OSB. Maybe they can though???

That wouldn't be good.

Well my friend that works in the post office called this morning and no chicks. Hopefully they will be here tomorrow. I guess it'll take 2 days from Texas to Alabama??? Any ideas?

Well, yes, rats can gnaw right thru 1 inch thick wood. But it would take them a while. Just keep your eyes open. If there are no holes chewed thru yet, you probably don't have any desperate rats around. Hope your chicks get here safely. That waiting about kills me.
