This is my design for the inside of the coop. What do you think of it? What would you change? Any other suggestions? When I don't have babies in the brooder I will use it as storage. The nest boxes will be acessable from the storage area. What do you think the demensions should be? I will get 8 and possibly a few more later. Also what do you think the run size should be? Thank You!

Just one suggestion if you haven't already thought of it: Droppings boards underneath the roosts are a feature I wouldn't live without in a coop!

ADozenGirls- That is a good idea. I think I will get Dropping Boards

Chicken0Boy- I don't have the dimensions yet. I wanted other opions because I have heard that inside you need 2-3 sq feet and outside 3-4 sq feet and then I heard 4 sq feet inside and 10 sq feet outside, so now I don't know what to think

Us BYCers....well most of us use 4sqr feet inside and 10 sqr feet outside! If I was you I would start of 5 hens and 1 roo! Thats a good start, so now to the dimensions! If you were to start off like I said your coop would need to be a 6x4 minimum give each chicken 4 sqr feet. The run would need to be 6x10 giving each chicken 10sqr. feet outside!

Good suggestions! Thank You. I will definatley think about those ideas. We can't get a rooster though because our neighbors don't want us to have one.

Don't take this the bad way, but if you are allowed to with your town I would get me a rooster! Unless your neighbors are really good friends or something. Roosters can protect your flock very well! The can take on dogs and al sort of things, thier are numerouse stories about heroic roos on here!

I plan on buying eggs to hach so I probably will end up with a few Roosters.
