I got a price question for my coops I build and I hope that it is ok asking this question.
I got an ebay question. If I sold this chicken coop for $300, would you rather see the product for $600 including the shipping or would you rather See the $300 extra shipping separate. I get a ton of views for my coops on ebay, but I can't get my prices low enough to beat these companies that build flimsy chicken coops that cost pennies. My problem is freight doubles the cost of my
products. Any suggestions.

I have a different point of view. I would prefer to know the actual cost of the unit. Shipping might be lower or higher depending upon where the coop is being sent. If I lived nearby and saw your cute coop on E-Bay for $600 I'd probably not even ask about driving over and picking it up myself because of the price.

Listing the actual cost tells your customer what you feel is fair. Neither you nor your customer can control shipping costs and you're not getting that "extra" $300.

x4 I prefer no surprise prices - including shipping means I know 100% whether or not I can afford it. Also, letting locals pick up to save on shipping might boost sales near you!

Can you list it twice? If I was shopping for something, I wouldn't want to see a coop I could affort just to be disappointed that I couldn't afford the shipping. But, on the other hand, I wouldn't want to miss your listing because the shipping put it out of my price range even though I was close enought to pick it up.

Love your coop!

Thanks all great feedback. Well this is what I did, I am going to try and show the original coop price and I am going to show the following options to make it reasonable for whoever wants to save money on the coop.

Shipping Details:
The biggest problem about selling these coops nationwide is the shipping. Freight Cost will double the cost of your coop, but I have some other suggestions before you have to pay double the price for your coop.
Shipping Option 1:
- Shipping is FREE if you come to my shop in Cedar City Utah to Pickup the Chicken Coop
Shipping Option 2:
- I will deliver the coop myself in Utah, Southern NV, Northern AZ, and LA for $200.
Shipping Option 3:
- Freight Shipping costs about $300 to deliver to your door step, but if you are willing to pickup the coop at a local freight distribution center than you can save up to 20%-35%. These distributions centers can be about 30-40 min from your home.
Shipping Option 4:
- Finally if you choose to have this coop delivered to your doorstep by freight, than you will have to pay the $300.

I will give this a try and see how it goes. Thanks a ton for your help.

It looks like a good product. I would offer free delivery in a certain local radius if that would be doable for you. That in my opinion would encourage word of mouth and product endorsement. Then leave it at that. Future inquires I would just remark that you only do free deliveries in this area and transportation outside that area is the responsibility of the consumer. Do not confuse you client with facts in the original add. Looks like your product might fit inside the bed of a 1/2 ton which would be a plus.
