Chicken coop question?

The problem with cement is that it draws moisture. For that reason sawdust or sawdust under straw is going to be a better bedding, and ventilation, especially in the winter is going to be very important.

Thank you for the great info, i already use straw and bedding and i plan to leave the eindow cracked during the winter .
Still not going to provide adequate air flow. You need venting on opposite walls to get the bad air, flowing out of the coop. A cracked window isn't going to cut it for ventilation in the winter.

Put in a few. The more the better. Air exchange is essential to a healthy flock. And if you can work in some soffit venting, the roof vents will be more effective. Ventilation may be the most overlooked aspect of coop design for new chicken owners. There is no such thing as putting in too much ventilation. But too little, and you can have all sorts of respiratory issues or frostbite.
