Dear SeaChick:
In my eastern Massachusetts town, which is rural and has a history of farming, we had to spend $150 to APPLY for a Special Permit, struggle through mixed communications and inadequate instructions from various Town offices, attend meetings of the Board of Health and the Board of Zoning Appeals, and wait 2.5 months for the final approval. All our neighbors were supportive and our deed permitted chickens, but that didn't make a difference to the Town's rules & procedures. You'd think we were starting a hog farm on a beach!
But we finally have our four girls now, their first week outside in their new coop. It sure brings the neighbors by to say hello!
Regarding BYC forums, have you all noticed that there aren't too many Northeast chicken people? I'm jealous of the midwest!
Best of luck with your campaign ! ! ! Keep posting and let us know how it works. Your daughter is a well-spoken person.
