Hi - recently we had a fox kill several of our chickens and maimed 3 of them. We thought the 3 injured wouldn't make it but 2 of the 3 appear to be fine after bandages and constant care. The 3rd is eating and drinking and happy to see you but seems to have broken ribs? It can stand up but when it goes to walk it falls forward head over tail and then can't get up again without help. It's been about 10 days and each day she seems to move more and more so I'm thinking she broke bones and they are healing. Any suggestions perhaps for some sort of sling to help her balance?

A vet could do an xray, but if this is not possible for you, I recommend confining her to a small box where she can stand but not walk. Flipping around like that will just re-injure whatever is trying to heal.

Depending on her pain/discomfort I might go ahead and 'ease her pain'. If you love it and want to save it then do like the above poster mentioned an try to position it where it can heal and not keep flopping over itself. That will hinder the healing process.

So sorry that happend! Hope it works out.
