Chicken dead overnight!

Hi all,
My most favourite loving and caring chicken died last night. After finding out why she might have died I'm going to log off BYC for a long while just because I cannot bear with he fact that I have no chicken running up to me cackling, no chicken to pinch all my food and no chicken to dig holes and sunbathe in the garden and sandpit. It wasn't me that found her, (I'm so glad) it was my Dad. He hadn't heard from her all morning so he went to her cage and she was slumped over in her box, cold. There was no sign of any attack or blood she just died in her sleep. Does anyone know why?

How old was she? Sudden death is frequently the result of a heart attack especially in older birds. Sorry for your loss.

So sorry. Our pets never last long enough and it's always sad when they go.

She was around a year old. Would a heart attack hurt her?

Well, she did have a vitamin D deficiency, but it seemed like it had gone away.
