Hi,
One of our old ladies who is coming up to 5 years old, seems to be very depressed at the moment.
After we got our new chickens last year ( 2 cuckoo marans ) it seems as if they have been bothering Matilda and giving her a hard time. She eats and drinks normal, but she poos down her pants and causes a mess. But we bath her and her sister ( who has the same situation with pooing) and they don't mind.
However it's obvious Matilda has avoids them as she waits till the get let out first to come out of her shed, also as soon as she is out she goes to sleep.
I am aware she is very old but what can we do to cheer her up?

Thank you

5 isn't that old. Does she feel thin? I would suspect parasites or disease.

I think she would be happier away from the other chickens while she recovers, would check re: worms or other parasites. The worms could be a reason she messes herself.
