I have a little dog that just showed up here a few months ago and I suspect he is a Godsend. I wish I knew what breed or breeds he is from. He did chase a few chickens when he first got here, but fortunately I caught him and gave him a quick slap in the act, and he got the hint. Perfect behavior ever since. I think he gets it that they are part of the pack. You can't beat the price of a guard dog like that.....free. Most of my kids love him, except the 2 year old that is afraid of him (too active a puppy for her taste). I think every dog should have a job.
He keeps scaring the night preditors away and keeps an eye out for possible dangers with the rest of his pack, and he has a job for a lot of years to come. The 7 dollars I spend on him and the other dog every 3 weeks is worth it.
