My hen hasn’t been 100% for a few weeks on and off today her tail is down and appears she’s dragging her bottom. She feels heavy and squishy down there

She may have ascites (water belly) and a reproductive disorder. Does she lay eggs? Is she overweight? Does she walk like a penguin or have difficulty getting around? There is no cure for most age related reproductive disorders. Fluid can be removed with an 18 gauge needle and syringe occasionally if she is uncomfortable or having labored breathing. It is not without risk of infection or even death. Antibiotics, such as amoxicillin may help, but may not.

Other complications can be crop disorders. Is her crop emptying overnight? Pictures may be helpful. Is she eating and drinking?

Well I have 18 girls not sure if she’s laying or not. Her poo has been very watery but she’s eating and drinking. She could be old , I got her and some others over the summer. Her butt is dirty but not stinky
I’ll try to get a picture of her tonight. I thought egg bound so I gave her a Tums

You could separate her inside a dog crate for a few days, and keep her with the flock in the coop. You can monitor if she is laying, what her poops look like, if she is eating and drinking, and feel of her crop early in the morning to see if it is emptying over night. To rule out egg binding, insert a clean or gloved finger into her vent 2 inches to feel for an egg.
