Chicken dropped dead -- no apparent reason

Hi all,

Our 10 chickens are just 1 year old. One of our 2 araucanas was found dead in the coop this morning. Yesterday evening I noticed that she did not seem her usual assertive bossy self, but she did not appear sick. The only noticeable thing is that she had a bare patch on her back -- which I believed was due to our rooster mounting her. All the other 9 chickens appear as healthy and active as usual. Any ideas what might cause a sudden death like this? many thanks, laurie

Sorry for your loss

It could be so many things. I had one do that last year. We did a necropsy and found her liver had ruptured.
