So my run is about 15x15 and has a 4' tall fence. My chickens are about 3 months old and my Plymouth rock has jump/flew the fence twice now. One she gets out she freaks out and desperatly tries to get back in and eventually lays down next to the fence. I know the chickens can jump/fly over it since they are juvys but the others just dont care too. Has anyone devised a door or opening somehow to allow the chicken to get in a run but not out? I dont fear preditors because I lock them in the coop at night which is a fortress.

or would it just be easier to clip one side of her wings? I feel bad to cut them because she uses them to climb on the shrubs and explore.

If you're really only concerned about letting this one chicken get back in easily, how about adding a little step on the outside of the run? Maybe turn over a 2 foot tall box or something. If she's able to fly out occasionally, she'll be able to hop up 2 feet, then fly the rest of the way back in.

It's hard to imagine that you'd want her to escape whenever she felt like it, though. If you don't mind her free-ranging, why don't you just open the door?
