so ive been out in the field all day working the ground a bit and as usual the chickens have been following me round, catching the bugs and worms that pop up.

i'd never noticed before but all the chickens had the same eye colour (orange?) bar one. she has dark eyes (a sort of dark brown almost black) the more i look, the more she stnds out from the rest...she has really beautiful eyes.

so i began wondering, do all chickens have the same orange eye colour....or can different breeds have different eye colours?

Well I raise Cornish and if you have good ones they should a pearl colored eye, many of mine have this and it looks very nice. Also many Oriental fowl have a pearl eye as well.

A couple of my partridge Brahmas have light golden eyes and I have one chick that looks like it has almost green eyes!

Cindy has different eyes than my other chickens. Here are her eyes:

My Delaware roo had very yellow eyes. My new (barnyard mix) roo has bright orange eyes! My chicks all seem to have brown or yellow eyes. I am pretty sure my hens all have/had brown or light amber eyes.

Most breeds are supposed to have reddish bay (dark orange) eyes, however less common breeds like my Shamos and Al's Cornish should have pearly yellowish whitish greenish colored eyes.

I read somewhere that somebody was working on a "Hellboy" (like the movie) chicken. A large dark red oriental breed with bright YELLOW eyes, I saw a pic of one, it looked cool.

Umm. . . . One doesn't really need to develop those. They can be found almost anywhere one finds Oriental Gamefowl.
