Chicken farmer in the making

Hi,
I'm really, really new on keeping chickens. So far, we have built the coop and run. We hope to have chickens within the next 2 weeks. I need some advice on bedding for the run and the coop please? I live on the coast in South Africa, near Cape Town.

You may want to put "South Africa," in the search box to see if there is a thread for your country. Have you checked out the Learning Center, it is a great place to start a poultry education.

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us. There are many options for coop bedding, but personally i use dried grass clippings and leaves - they cost nothing and make a great, almost work-free bedding. Maybe type "coop bedding options" and "run flooring options" in the search box and see what pops up to get a good idea of the kinds of things members use.
