Chicken Food

I have a question ; Has anybody ever tried feeding chickens fish innards, etc for higher protein. As I have a few that like to eat the feathers of another hen. And I'm not sure why. It's not over-crowding, not too many roosters, and it's not low-quality feed. I've heard that it's just the breed, but am not buying it. I have cochins and frizzles, red, white and black. It's mostly the red and white. So far am not seeing it in the black. Could I have a racial problem?

Eating feather can be a protein deficiency. Mine did it when they were having growing spurts (15 wks old or so) and do it less now. I think some supplement w/ driend cat food.

Fish innards? Never tried it. Good luck w/ it!
